Manila Philippines - Actress Bettina Carlos would rather distance herself from controversy
magnet Raymart Santiago, the man she’s being linked to recently.
The 26-year-old Kapuso actress finds it funny that people instantly equate their onscreen closeness with reality.
"Natatawa
nga kami doon. It looked like it was parang really linking us but in
reality it’s just out of the show. It was during the time when our
characters are becoming lovers,” she told showbiz reporters, referring
to their roles in the recently-concluded afternoon drama “Villa
Quintana.”
Bettina further said only two things bind her and
Raymart together: Instagram and “unyon," their newfound showbiz group
composed of some “Villa” cast members, including Bettina, Raymart and
Sunshine Dizon.
"Instagram lang (ang connection namin). We follow
each other. We have a lot of interests in common… (at least kami) sa
group ha, like Ate Shine cooks a lot, tapos ako I bake tapos si Raymart
pala cooks also.”
She added, "The only time nakakasama namin siya sa labas is kapag lumalabas ang ''unyon.'"
No to controversy
Did Raymart show interest in her?
"Hindi
pwede! Ang tahimik-tahimik ng buhay ko ayoko nang gumulo. Wala, wala.
He has a lot of issues to deal with in his personal life."
Bettina must be referring to the 41-year-old actor’s never-ending saga with his estranged wife, Claudine Barretto.
For now, the single mom is focused on her career, her pastry business, and of course her daughter.
"Hindi
ko pa nararamdaman 'yung need for that (relationship) at this point. So
dahil wala pang need, hindi. ko pa namimiss 'yung feeling. Siguro when
the time God wants me to be with someone, darating din ‘yan."
The
actress-entrepreneur also pointed out that she’s more selective of her
future relationship, especially since she has a daughter to consider.
"I’m
hoping that my next relationship will be with someone na magiging tatay
ng anak ko and tatanggapin niya ko. So hindi rin ganun kadali for me to
find someone at this point.”
‘Internet entrepreneur’
Aside from showbiz, Bettina makes herself busy with her pastry business.
The
“Internet entrepreneur” has social media to thank for in helping her
run a business she put up from her home over three years ago.
"We’re
blessed to be part of the free marketing age. We have with us Facebook,
Twitter and Instagram. And of course, free photo editing apps that
really help you enhance photos and make them look like they're
professionally taken. Malaking bagay.”
Bettina is fortunate she can combine showbiz and her small-scale business.
"Mabait
talaga ang Diyos. Kapag binubuhusan Niya ko ng orders, ibig sabihin
wala ako masyadong taping. Kapag may taping ako, manageable lang ang
baking load ko.”
She personally takes note of orders and bakes at
the same time. Her first and only hire, a rider, delivers the goods
within Metro Manila.
"I’m very lucky that my customers understand
that there’s no definite time of delivery—within the day lang talaga,”
she said, sharing that her rider services 20 locations on an average
day.
Baking is something she and her 3-year-old daughter enjoy doing, too.
“Every
time I go to my kitchen, she’s with me. Nasa tiyan ko pa lang siya
nagbe-bake na ko. She’s there pretending she has her own baking show."
