NBI caught more than 600 Illegal Chinese workers

Batangas, Philippines - The NBI (National Bureau of Investigation) has rounded hundreds of foreign Chinese nationals working in Calaca power plant owned by DMCI Holdings Inc. (DMCI). The members of NBI-FLD (Foreign Liaison Division), Bureau of Immigration and Department of laor and Employment performed an inspection in Southwest Luzon Power Generation Corporation Power Plant in Batangas in order to verify the information gathered that the company was hiring Illegal aliens and minors.

“Our informant said that they have been hiring undocumented foreigners for a long time and Filipino workers are being maltreated. There were also reports of human trafficking,”
Chief Atty. Daniel Daganzo of NBI-FLD told reporters.
The security guards of the company blocked our authorities from entering the facility, but they were instantly disarmed by NBI.
Daganzo said that they have found 600 Chinese nationals working as, engineers, laborers, and technical staff among others.
The NBI added that according to their intelligence information they have received showed that a Chinese subcontractor bringing in the workers to our country. 


“They prefer Chinese workers because it is easier to communicate with them since the engineers are also Chinese,”
Daganzo explained.
The Chinese are facing deportation proceedings.
